Introduction to Leatherwork
Learn about different types of leather and get hands-on experience with traditional tools and techniques as you make your own small leathergoods. Classes are taught in the Cicada Leather Company atelier in West Philadelphia. This class will introduce you to the skills and methods needed for more advanced classes.
Craft a Key Chain and a Card Wallet. Join master leathersmith, Mia Barrett, to learn the basics of leathersmithing.
Learn the Trade
You will learn about various leathers, how to construct, cut, rivet, dye, condition, edge, and hand stitch using traditional tools and techniques. Tools and materials are provided. Basic tool kits can be ordered after class.
Take it Home
At the end of the workshop, you will have made your own personalized key chain and card wallet!
Parking: There is ample free street parking
Accessibility: The building is one level without any stairs. The workshop is held at a bar-height workbench through a table-height workbench is available.
