This class takes place on two consecutive days. Price includes a $15.00 materials fee.
A project based introduction to the ShopBot CNC router using PartWorks drawing software and the ShopBot control software.
Students will be able to safely operate the ShopBot CNC router and comfortably navigate the Partworks drawing software through the construction of a project.
Students will learn:
CNC orientation: X,Y,Z, understanding.
Material Set up, origin positioning.
Attachment methods.
Drawing operations: Vector creation—line, circle, text, edit operations, use of layers, drawing errors.
Machining operations: Profile toolpaths, Pocket toolpaths.
Previewing toolpaths.
Saving and Transferring drawing and control software files.
Prerequisites: Introduction to woodworking suggested
Materials: Materials included in class fee.
What To Bring: Safety Glasses (required), Ear protection (recommended), USB flash drive
Teacher Bio:
Loren Heyer is a lifelong Sonoma County resident. Earned a BA in Industrial and Technology Education from SFSU. Has taught at the High School level for Santa Rosa City Schools in subjects from AutoCAD to Construction Technology. Currently has over 11 years working with ShopBot CNC machines and related software.
