This class presents the fundamentals of the CNC milling workflow, including CAD, CAM, setup, and operation as well as the basics of workholding and feeds and speeds.
We will be creating designs in VCarve software and using Easel to control the machine.
Who this class is for
This class is for those new to CNC milling and those looking to brush up on the basics. Also, members of Twin Cities Maker wishing to use the Shapeoko or X-Carve will leave the class with the skills necessary to setup and operate the machine.
What to expect
The first part of the class will cover fundamental concepts and terminology used in CNC milling and include a demo.
The second part of the class will be hands-on. We will be cutting wood, aluminum, and acrylic.
What do bring
We have all the necessary equipment and gear for you here at the Hack Factory, as well as wood, aluminum, and acrylic sheet for you to use. If you would like, you can bring your own eye protection, hearing protection, laptop (with VCarve Pro Trial Edition installed), and stock material for cutting.
