The emergence of areas of innovation or innovation districts has become a growing phenomenon in cities large and small across North America. At the same time, science park leaders have identified the need to bring the social elements of cities into their parks as a driver to retain and attract companies and the talent that those companies are pursuing. The International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) is the global leader in exploring the issues facing these ever increasing important mechanisms to drive regional and national prosperity. The North American Division of IASP’s conference in Ann Arbor and Detroit will be a forum for the exploration of best practices with leaders of area of innovations, innovation districts and science parks. The meeting will also assess the opportunities for collaboration between areas of innovation and science parks across North America.
