FUNDRAISER FOR THE ORGANS OF NOTRE-DAME CATHEDRAL DE PARIS TO FEATURE FILM WITH LIVE MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT
The silent film masterpiece, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE-DAME, starring Lon Chaney in his most poignant role, will be presented on the big screen with live improvised musical accompaniment.
Peter Krasinski, known worldwide as a leading improvisational accompanist of silent film, will provide a "composition in real time" utilizing the spectacular 1921 Skinner pipe organ (opus 308) at Old South Church in Boston on Wednesday, July 3, 7:30 PM.
After greetings and citations from the French Consulate, the evening proceeds with the singing of the National Anthems of France and United States.
A prelude to the film will also include a multi-media presentation of a moving remembrance of the day a tragic fire almost destroyed one of the worlds most cherished landmarks.
Proceeds from the event will be set aside to fund the complete restoration of the Great Organ and the Choir Organ of Notre Dame de Paris which were damaged by the fire on April 15, 2019
