HR Data Analytics: Introductory Course

Have you been in a meeting where a KPI or a number on the dashboard is questioned and the conversation immediately falls back on anecdotes and impressions? Imagine if instead you dug into the data to find the real answer. Through interactive sessions and based on our unique experiences in HR data sets, this class will give you the tools to navigate the data traps that are so common to HR data. There are a lot of challenges hiding in the data whether it is working with incomplete data, averages that are misleading, or spurious correlations. We will prepare you to avoid these pitfalls in your own work as well as identify them in the work of others so that you can help your HR department move from being the reactionary, cost-center to become data-driven, strategic partners.

What You Will Learn in this Course:

• Frame HR questions in a way that facilitates meaningful data analysis
• Utilize a "toolbox" of statistical measures that help describe patterns in HR datasets
• Learn how to identify and test relationships between complex HR variables
• Know the difference between correlation and causation
• Define regression and understand three types of information that statistical models can provide the HR manager
• Learn the components of a good forecast and the importance of testing assumptions
