In this FREE, small-group workshop, an insurance specialist from nonprofit NHS Brooklyn will:
provide an overview of homeowner's insurance and flood insurance, and how to calculate them properly
look at your property insurance policy and let you know if you're over-insured (and so paying too much) or under-insured (and so at risk of an ugly surprise if an uncovered event occurs).
look up your address on the new FEMA flood maps to determine if your property's flood insurance requirements have changed
check that the amount being escrowed for homeowner's insurance by your mortgage lender is correct
let you know if you may wish to contact your insurance agent to request a policy adjustment
provide fire safety information
Please bring:
1. your homeowner's insurance policy (or your property insurance policy, if you live in a coop, condo, or apartment)
2. your flood insurance policy (if you have one)
3. your last mortgage statement (if you have a mortgage)
