The Twin Cities Jewish Chorale and the Judson Memorial Baptist Church Choir perform Sunday at Judson Church and Wednesday at Temple Israel.
The “Holocaust Cantata-Songs from the Camps” is a poignant English-language union of songs and text drawn from original Polish materials in the U.S. Holocaust Museum archives.
Rarely performed in the Twin Cities, the Holocaust Cantata is a beautiful and haunting 40 minute piece drawn from the songs, letters and diaries of prisoners of Buchenwald. It is both moving and defiant. This is the third time the Judson Choir has performed the cantata and the first time Judson has performed it with the Twin Cities Jewish Chorale.
Alternating between choral/solo singing and readings, the cantata features the combined choirs and instrumentalists and features soloists Philip Zawisza, baritone; Carole Schultz, soprano, Cecile Zawisza, mezzo-soprano, and Caroline Carlson, cello.
