Judson Memorial Baptist Church Choir and the Twin Cities Jewish Chorale present two performances of "THE HOLOCAUST CANTATA: Songs from the Camps"

The Twin Cities Jewish Chorale directed by Gary Wolfman and the Judson Choir directed by John De Haan unite to perform Holocaust Cantata: Songs from the Camps, an English-language union of songs and text drawn from original Polish materials in the archives of the U.S. Holocaust Museum.

Donald McCulloughs 40-minute cantata is an emotional yet fiercely powerful musical journey. Working from translations of the original Polish, McCullough fashioned a haunting tribute to the six million Jews systematically persecuted and murdered and to the millions of others the Nazi Party classified as "undesirables" -- Poles, Romanian gypsies, homosexuals, transsexuals, political opponents, religious dissidents, the mentally ill and the physically disabled.

Alternating between singing and readings from letters and diaries, the cantata features combined choirs, soloists and instrumentalists. From one of historys worst horrors emerges a sense of musics life-affirming powers

General seating. Please arrive early. Donations will be gratefully appreciated.

The two choirs present a second performance at Temple Israel, 2323 Fremont Av. So, Minneapolis MN on Wednesday, February 26 at 7pm.
