Hitchcock Day of Mission with AFYA
On the afternoon of March 12th, all Hitchcock members and friends, young and old, are invited to come and help pack kits with medical (and other) supplies, which will be sent to places around the world, especially to refugees who have been forced to flee their homes and now reside in camps. The reality is that there are medical professionals prepared to help, but too often they do not have the basic supplies that they need. So, the AFYA (Afya is Swahili for “good health”) foundation has asked for Hitchcock’s help to collect and pack kits to be shipped overseas!
Here’s how it will work: Beginning February 1st, we will be collecting the items listed below. Then, on March 12th, a large truck from AFYA will arrive at Hitchcock with the rest of the supplies, and with professionals to help us accomplish our work! The items that we collect and pack will then be loaded onto pallets, put back in the truck, and taken to freighters to be shipped to where they are needed most. Read a bit more about AFYA below, and please go to their website to learn more about them...then start bringing in items!
Items for collection:
Bacitracin, Individual Hand Sanitizers, Pen Lights, Rainboots, Baby Diapers, Hats and Blankets, Soap, School Supplies, Office Supplies, Ace Bandages, Toothpaste, Tooth Brushes and New Combs
