What: Islam in Practice
Why: Learn how to apply Islam at school, home and community, build identify and study Quran
This is a joint program between Dar Al-Taqwa and the Ellicott City chapter of Islamic Leadership Insittute of America. Inshaa Allah youth will learn about qualities of a believer through a deep understanding of creed, worship and the application of these qualities in an every-day context of a Muslim American teenager. The boys will learn these qualities through a series of Prophetic sayings (ahadeeth) and supplications (duaa), which students are expected to understand, apply, connect with the creed and worship activities and apply in the context of obligations and responsibilities. Students will also be encouraged to memorize the ahadeeth and duaa in Arabic as well as know how to read and write them. Connections with parables from the Quran will also be a component of the discussions. There will be two text books for the year. More details about the class, text books and instructor are below.
All students are required to bring the following to each class, starting 9/14/19. Students who do not have all items listed below will be denied attendance:
Students will be given homework each week as follows and are expected to come to class the following week prepared to present their homework:
Our school year in shaa Allah we include a couple of field trips within an hour driving from Dar Al-Taqwa during the year and will require parent volunteers to car pool. The emphasis of the field trips will be reflections on the application of Islamic faith in society. Examples will be visits to local museums, social service activities at low-income neighborhoods or serving less fortunate individuals
