We've chosen our top 10 things to find as you explore through secret doors and covert passages. On this self-guided treasure hunt experience you'll search for specially chosen one-of-a-kind items including treasured architecture, signed guitars, Mrs. Rosa Parks room and Prince's Purple Rain jacket.

We have over 100 rooms and 70 secret doors (yes 70!) to explore. We guarantee you can see at least 60 of our legendary rooms — but be warned secret doors are tricky to find — if you find 2 or 3 you are an above average sleuth.

Our volunteers will treat you to a short video so you can learn a bit about our philosophy, museum, history, and of course secret doors! Then you will head out on your very own adventure to find our hidden gems and explore our secret doors, exhibits, and legendary themed rooms — like the Log Cabin, the John Lennon Suite, and Mrs. Rosa Parks Room (we were her home-away-from-home for nearly 10 years).

The only museum of its kind, O Museum In The Mansion is devoid of velvet ropes & glass borders. On this immersive experience guests can leaf through manuscripts, touch sculpture and tour through a multitude of achitectual styles. From art, to sports & entertainment memorabilia, to written manuscripts, to photography, to one of the largest collections of signed guitars, our galleries are not limited to one genre. The collection rotates and changes daily. From the art, to the music, to the surroundings, no visit is ever the same.

We are honored to been included on The African American Heritage Trail and designated as a 20th Century Civil Rights site by Cultural Tourism DC.
