Congratulations Homer and Cristina for being awarded a visiting artists fellowship! Tell us more about what this means - what will your visiting artists activities include after this introduction party? Inquiring minds need to know :)

This fellowship will be a year long opportunity for both Homer and myself to share the dance and music of tango with the patients, their caregivers, scientists, doctors and staff. In return, Homer and I will have the experience of learning more about aging, memory and brain disorders via treatment session observations and participating in meetings among the scientists, doctors and caregivers. We hope to share the gift of tango through touch and some way of an embrace to bring comfort at the very least, but also to provoke a sense of curiosity on the patient's part at best. It is our way of offering a chance to practice non-verbal communication and how this affects a person's experience with a limited brain function....here is a link to the Foundation's site and collaboration with UCSF along with past artists who have done their fellowship there: http://memory.ucsf.edu/ourcenter/artist
