Gruesome Playground Injuries

A love story told through injury. Doug and Kayleen first meet at the nurse’s office in their elementary school; Kayleen has a stomach ache, and Doug just rode her bike off the roof. Over the next thirty years, these two childhood friends meet again and again, brought together by both physical and mental wounds, as they grapple with heartbreak, death, and love. Rajiv Joseph’s Gruesome Playground Injuries is a messy and funny and poignantly tragic story of two friends desperate to heal both each other and themselves.
