This is an IN PERSON group, and the facility requires masks to be worn at all times. This group is open to adults 18 or older and provides a safe, supportive place to be with people who are, or have been, in the same boat as you. You may be having feelings such as anger, denial, shock, depression, loneliness, rejection, or abandonment. These all are normal for where you are. You will be able to share how you feel in a safe place and get support and comfort from others who have been there that can understand and empathize. We follow the "I pass" guideline, which means you choose when and how much you share.

This group will meet on the First and Third Mondays at 1:00 pm (No Holidays) and will last until 2:00 pm.

No matter how long ago your loss was, 1 month, 1 year, or several years we can all learn from and help each other. When you are able to attend your first meeting you will find a community of friends that will listen and let you know you are not alone "We Get It". If you do not connect with people the first time you attend - keep coming back. We always have new members joining and the age of our members varies considerably from one meeting to the next.

Let’s all work hard to offer each other a variety of resources that apply to any stage of the evolving journey of grief. There is no "moved on" or "getting over it" our loss is forever, and eventually we learn what our new life looks and feels like "After our loss." Hopefully, the new friends that we make at these meetings will eventually be a part of our "After" futures.

Why attend a Grief Support Group?

Validation: Grief is experienced in so many ways -- physical, emotional, and spiritual. One needs a place to recognize that these reactions are part of the journey of grief. Being with other grieving people can reaffirm that one is not going crazy. While every loss is unique, through support groups one can bask in the support of others who have experienced loss and understand.

Time away: For many people, a support group can be a break from the loneliness and the boredom that often come with grief.

Suggestions for coping: There is no single solution to dealing with loss but members of a support group can offer a range of alternatives. By listening to stories of how others cope with a particular problem, one can find the solution that might work best.

Support groups offer two other gifts: they provide hope by providing models that reaffirm that one can survive loss; and participating in a support group can also help the griever find new empathy, new understandings, renewed strengths, and resilience.
