Felicia Glasper (Panelist)

If you are from Chicagoland or have been to one of our previous Green in Chi event, then you know what a welcoming inspirational leader and woman entrepreneur Felicia Glasper is.

Determination describes a lot of things. Devotion to ones self and ones craft are where Felicia Glasper stands out in this booming cannabis Industry.

Being in the fast-paced, guest-driven service industry for almost twenty years has nothing but curated this obscene passion and deep love for the art of cooking and hosting for friends and families throughout the world.

Staying in the service industry allowed Felicia to work with many creative chefs and owners who have pushed her to always be pursuing her passion to create a lifelong career as an entrepreneur, developing these new companies and opportunities for others to blossom in the industry as well!

A past wisdom of generations come through with the desire to feed the mind, body and soul with cultures and traditions that are quickly diminishing with this tech driven world. A home-cooked meal or treat is that last connecting piece.

Felicia is excited to share the stage with such amazing leadership in the Cannabis industry to share her story of why she started her company Hosted and Toasted which choices led her down the entrepreneurial path she has taken to use with her degree in Applied Arts from Madison College and her life-long experience being a leader in and out of the kitchen.

Alan Bonsett (Panelist)

Alan is a veteran of the regulated cannabis industry with substantial experience in cultivation, product development, manufacturing, retail, and build-out. Throughout his time in the cannabis industry, Alan has demonstrated his ability to achieve financial success time and again. One of Alan’s greatest achievements is Bonsai Cultivation. One of the first of its kind, Bonsai is a state-of-the-art, 12,000 square foot recreational cannabis cultivation and wholesale company that Alan converted from an old button factory warehouse. Alan supervised the whole project from financing, to build out to State and Local licensing applications. The first plant went into soil in January 2016 and Bonsai now boasts yields of over 5000 pounds per year.

As the CEO of NOBO, Inc., Alan makes all key business decisions related to its operations. Alan’s expertise in identifying and securing funding, managing facility build-outs, and bringing key industry partners to the table aids NOBO, Inc. in building a strong corporate foundation, which will continue to grow along with the international cannabis industry.

Amy Nathan (Panelist)

Gromentum Lab is a cannabis business accelerator focused on launching cannabis-related businesses owned by social equity entrepreneurs in Illinois. Currently, Amy sits on Mayor Lightfoot’s Cannabis Task Force advising on matters related to Social Equity and Economic Development in Chicago.

Prior to the Cannabis Industry, Amy spent decades consulting for companies in highly-regulated industries like Financial Services and Health Care, including CVS/Caremark, Blue Cross Blue Shield, BMO Harris, IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers. She started two small businesses early in her career and worked in a business incubator in the Middle East as a vehicle for community transformation. Since early in her career she has cultivated a passion for working with marginalized populations to overcome imposed barriers to self-sustainment.

“Gromentum LabTM was founded on the principle that it takes more than a good idea and favorable laws to make it in the cannabis industry. It requires nurturing by an interested party, that can make or break the difference between successful entrepreneurs and those who fail. Gromentum Lab is dedicated to filling in the gaps for people who were the most at risk of not having relevant social networks, educational backgrounds and access to capital in place.

We provide an immersive, intensive 16-week business accelerator to quickly launch cannabis-related businesses owned by Social Equity Applicants (SEAs). Entrepreneurs will obtain seed funding, mentoring, technical training in cannabis-related operations and the fundamentals along with strategic applications of entrepreneurship and innovation as part of the program. Upon graduation, they will present their pitches to a network of investors for further funding opportunities.

Currently we are helping SEAs gain a foothold in the industry through commercial license application. We are connecting applicants with our deep network of pro-bono subject matter expert consultants and for other low-cost avenues to work through property ownership and control issues and application writing and review.”
