Legalization of cannabis in New York is coming and we need to make sure the folks who have been most harmed by prohibition have the most to gain from legalization.
That is why the Rochester members of the Start SMART NY Coalition have been organizing tirelessly for a bill that legalizes adult-use cannabis in the most just and beneficial way for all New Yorkers. We aim to win, and we aim to win this legislative session. That is possible if you join us.
To continue engaging the Rochester community on this critical issue, we'll be screening the Netflix Original Grass Is Greener, followed by a community discussion between local elected leaders, activists, and organizers about how legalization of cannabis directly impacts Rochester. There will also be a Q&A period from the audience afterwards.
This event is hosted by Rochester Start SMART NY coalition members: Roc NORML, Metro Justice, and VOCAL-NY.

The event is free but space is limited, so make sure you RSVP ahead of time and reserve your spot!

About Grass Is Greener: Weed. Marijuana. Grass. Pot. Whatever you prefer to call it, America's relationship with cannabis is a complicated one. In his directorial debut, hip hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy (Yo! MTV Raps) presents an unparalleled look at the racially biased history of the war on marijuana. Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill's B-Real, and Damian Marley join a range of celebrities and experts who discuss the plant's influence on music and popular culture, and the devastating impact its criminalization has had on black and Latino communities. As more and more states join the push to legalize marijuana, Grass is Greener dives deep into the glaring racial disparities in the growing cannabis market. Features interviews with Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill's B-Real and Sen Dog, DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Chuck D, Damian Marley, Killer Mike and more.
