Do you love goat cheese?! Ever wonder about the creatures behind the milk and how it turns into one of your favorite cheeses?
Join farm instructor Jac Kellner as they introduce you to the Wild Willow Farm goats while learning about the care they need to be happy and healthy. Afterward, enjoy a sampling of goat cheeses as you will be taken step by step on how to make a beginner farmer soft cheese as well as a cultured cheese such as chevre and feta. Discover the various ways of flavoring your cheese from using fresh herbs, honey, figs, lavender, and more. Unlike most of Jac's other classes, this class consists of a lecture and cooking demo. While there will be class participation, you will not be making your own batch of cheese. And, of course, we will get to visit the Wild Willow goats!
Topics include:
-goat breeds
-basics of goat care
-basics of cheese making and cheese making supplies
-how to make a simple farmer's 'basket cheese'
-how to make a beginner cultured cheese such as chevre and feta
