Glendronach is one of those distilleries with a cult-like following. And for good reason! The Highland Scotch is known for its whisky aged in ex-Sherry casks, giving the whisky a hint of sweetness. This is the whisky I break out when someone tells me they don't like whisky — and I've successfully changed several people's minds!
So join Women Who Whiskey Chicago to try 3-4 expressions of Glendronach with some food to munch on. Here's what we'll be tasting:
Glendronach 12 - heavily sherried single malt with a nose of raisins, cinnamon and caramelized sugar with flavors of pain au chocolate, marmalade on toast, and spiced raisins.
Glendronach 18 - another heavily sherried single malt with hints of brown sugar and pineapple on the nose and a palate of rum, chocolate-coated hazelnuts and honey.
Glendronach Peated - this single malt was first matured in ex-bourbon casks before finishing in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. On the nose is tropical fruit and vanilla cream with charred oak, and on the palate is cinnamon and wood-smoke with honey and dried raisins.
We'll also be getting a taste or two of a few other Glendronach expressions but we're still deciding on which ones, so it'll be a surprise.
If you haven't tried Glendronach, definitely sign up to try it! And if you have, well, you probably already clicked the link below for tickets. :)
