Gelato and Waffle Cone Wizardry

Gelato fans, gather ‘round. This class is designed for you. In this class, you'll learn how to make batches of gelato and waffle cones using the same methods that we use in our stores every day. This class contains a bit of science -- why our gelato freezes so smoothly, how to combat ice crystals and the role of sugar in frozen treats -- and a bit of art, such has how to mix-in chunks and design the pans with beautiful textures. It's a combination of hands-on and lecture, and to top it off, the class fee includes a dish or cone of the gelato you just made.

Classes will be held most Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in December and January. You can see available dates using the "Select a Date" button. Preregistration is required and classes do sell out. Ticket sales end 24 hours prior to the start time.

FAQs

Can I give as a gift?
Yes, you can either register for a specific date using your recipient's name, or you can purchase a Flex Ticket by mail in the Gelato Fiasco Online Store. The Flex Ticket provide a voucher number that the recipient can use to complete their own registration. Please know that Flex Tickets still require pre-registration and walk-ins cannot be accomodated. To purchase a Flex Ticket, visit the Gelato Fiasco Online Store.

How is the class structured?
Most sessions are limited to around 6 participants. The class takes place in our actual kitchen, which you might have seen through the glass window near the back of our Old Port store.

Is there an age requirement?
While gelato is enjoyed by people of all ages, the classes involve interacting with equipment (and sometimes knives) in a real working kitchen so we require attendees to be at least 16 years old.    

Where can I park?

Find metered parking on Fore Street, Dana Street, and Commercial Street. Metered parking is free after 6 p.m. and on Sundays. You can also pay by the hour at the Fore Street Parking Garage next to our store.

What should I wear?

The kitchen in the Old Port store is a real working kitchen, so floors can get wet. Please avoid open-toed shoes and heels as well as elaborate bracelets, multiple rings, large dangling earrings, or overly intricate statement pieces. Plan to take off scarves or other accessories that could dip into the gelato. Furthermore, long hair should be tied back or covered with hat.

What if I have a food allergy?

Who is the class leader?

This class is scheduled to be taught by Gelato Fiasco Wizard Michael Christman. Mike has 7 years of experience working with Gelato Fiasco and has worked at each of our locations, including our Flavor Foundry. Having closely experienced nearly every facet of the gelato process he is geared and ready to guide you through a day at the Gelato Fiasco.

I have come down with a cold and don't feel healthy enough to spend time in a kitchen environment. Can I reschedule my class?

What is the refund policy?

Once you confirm your class slot, we can't offer a refund. If you need to cancel, please reach out to us to inquire about rescheduling.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

That's fine! Want to give as a gift, or can't make it? Send another gelato-lover in your place.

When should I arrive?

We plan to start our classes promptly at their scheduled times. Feel free to arrive a few minutes early to poke around in our Old Port store.

Are there any other perks?

Class participants can take home pints of gelato for just $5 each and will receive a complimentary freezer bag in which to pack them!
