Learn to make a Full-Length Cobweb Style Corn Broom
with Jessica Hahn-Taylor

Brooms are essential to one’s home, whether it’s a cabin or a castle.

Learn the art of broom making using ethically sourced broomcorn and handcrafted with regards to environmental sustainability! Broomcorn lasts longer and sweeps better because each fiber is covered with hair-like follicles that trap and hold dirt particles. It is weather resistant and wears very well, making it the premium broom fiber. It is environmentally friendly because it grows in dry areas using only rain water.

In this class, artist Jessica Hahn-Taylor will show you how to create your own Full-Length Cobweb Style Corn Broom made with natural, undyed, and unprocessed broomcorn, with a minimum of tools. Cobweb brooms are practical and beautiful. You can use them like you would any broom to clean your spaces, or you can hang it as a decoration.

At the end of each class you will take home a fully functional broom with a new knowledge of the history and lore of the broom - including its introduction into the United States by Ben Franklin! No prior experience is needed.

Materials fee: $10 due on day of class
