According to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, more than 12,000 North Carolinians died from opioid-related overdoses during 1999 – 2016. In addition to the devastating effects on families and communities, the epidemic poses new challenges for prevention and treatment. Our host Dr. Masoud Hejazi will give an overview of the opioid epidemic in North Carolina and will describe treatment options available. Part of our objective is to bridge the gap across the continuum of care among providers and community resources by identifying available services in various catchment areas.
