FREE THE 350 BAIL FUND ANNOUNCES HIP HOP FUNDRAISER CONCERT TO FREE PEOPLE UNJUSTLY IMPRISONED IN DANE COUNTY JAIL –
Free The 350 Bail Fund to hold hip hop fundraiser concert to raise money to free folks in Dane County jail who are legally presumed innocent but don’t have enough money to pay their bail.
As Tone Madison describes it, “Free The 350 Bail Fund… bails out [Black] people… in the Dane County Jail, in a sustained push against the practice of cash bail and the racial disparities baked into the American criminal justice system.” All the proceeds of the fundraiser concert will go towards paying bail for people who can’t afford it.
Coming off a successful
pho fundraiser event ran by Bail Fund member, Tommy Valtin-Erwin
, in which over $2,500 was raised and used to free five people during the holidays, Free The 350 Bail Fund is ready for the next round of freedom fundraising. Rob Dz, a pillar in the Madison community who advocates for homeless folks at the library and even received an award from first lady Michelle Obama for his work there, will headline the event. Rob Dz, who has
performed with numerous heavy hitters like Nas, Common & the Black Eyed Peas to name a few, has appeared on ESPN and MTV
and also
ran for Dane County supervisor in 2016
. Also appearing on the bill, Lil Guillotine, who was recently named in Tone Madison’s “
Madison singles and deep cuts that stood out in 2019,
” and was recently featured in a
Teen Vogue article
, helped start the Bail Fund and is a key member of the Bail Fund’s fundraising team.
