FOUNDATIONS OF GLOBAL ADVOCACY (REQUIRED CORE COURSE) Facilitators*: Renee Bhatti-Klug, Senior University International Educator Jennifer Malerich, Executive Director, Academic and Global Engagement Description: This introductory session will familiarize participants with the GACP by offering an overview of ASU’s international population and its vision for and efforts in internationalization, facilitating activities to allow people to determine their worldviews and build Cultural Intelligence (CQ), and providing strategies for advocating for and engaging students. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding and developing a culture of intersectionality and global citizenship. Participants must attend either the Fall or Spring Foundations workshop to qualify for a certificate. Participants of this session will be able to: Identify the purpose of the GACP and understand how to work more effectively with ASU’s international population Articulate an overview of the international students and scholars at ASU Recognize students’ cultural adjustment and assist in their academic and cultural transitions Engage in developing ASU’s participation in intersectionality and global citizenship *Facilitators are subject to change
