THE HFT FOOD ASSISTANCE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM-Part 1 of 2.

FEB 28, 2020

Program Overview

Assisting families through the complex world of programs and services that make up food assistance can be challenging and sometimes overwhelming to understand. For many new hires freshly out of school and working for an organization that provides food assistance services such as SNAP assistance, summer meals, WIC, emergency food pantry services, senior home delivered meals or other services, understanding one’s daily duties and responsibilities leaves little time to learn anything else. For employers, the focus to get the new hire trained, up to speed quickly on their immediate duties and out into the field to start providing services is a priority. This certification program does not train the new or seasoned employee on how to perform their on-site daily duties and responsibilities. The HFT Food Assistance Certification Program is a support program for employers and employees that provides a holistic overview of all food and nutrition feeding programs & resources.

The Food Assistance Certification Program:

The HFT Food Assistance Certification Program is a support program for employers and employees that provides a holistic overview of all food and nutrition feeding programs. The program will provide food assistance professionals with no experience, limited experience or those more seasoned in their food assistance knowledge, with the information, tools and resources to better understand and maneuver across a complex food assistance matrix of programs and services offered in the community. The certification program supplements a new hire’s onboarding training by equipping the employee with more detailed information and resources about the larger scope of the food assistance industry the employee will be working in. Information gleaned from the program allows the new hire or seasoned employee to be more successful in their role thus making them more competent and well-rounded employees for the organization.   Participants must complete 2 parts for the certification program. Part 1 focuses on adult and senior feeding and assistance programs. Part 2 focuses on children’s and school feeding programs. Each part is offered in a 3.5-hour training.
