FLASH MOB - SUPER SNOW FULL MOON PHOTO SHOOT WITH MOON BEHIND THE FREEDOM TOWER

Join us for a unique opportunity to shoot the SUPER SNOW FULL MOON RISING BEHIND THE FREEDOM TOWER on Tuesday night (very cool), Feb. 19th, 2019.
(The moon will not be blood red on this night so don't be deceived by the above image.)

The Super Snow Moon will be the biggest, brightest and closest super moon of the year.

The "super moon" part indicates that the moon will be a full moon and at its closest point of orbit to earth (called the "perigee" at around the same time, making it look bigger and brighter than usual. The "snow" moon" (also called the "hunger" or "storm" moon) gets its name from Native American Culture.

February full moons were nicknamed "snow" by Native American tribes because of the heavy amount of snowfall during the month.

Our tour leader, Malcolm Kahn, will start the evening at 4:30 p.m. by providing a half hour of instruction for those who want or need it.

We'll start setting up to shoot at 5:00 p.m. and the serious shooting will begin at 5:50 p.m. when the moon will break the horizon.

Our shooting location will be around 12 miles away from the Freedom Tower. As most of you probably know that when shooting from that distance and using a long lens, lens compression creates an image that compresses the distance between the moon and the Freedom Tower and makes the moon look much larger than it really is. THE EFFECT IS STUNNING.

Suggested Equipment:
- A 400 mm lens on a crop sensor with a 1.4 extender. This will give you an optical reach of approximately 824 mm which will maximize the compression effect . If you don't have the proper equipment, rent it what you need from Unique. A one or two day rental is really "chump change" when one considers the results.

While you can shoot this scene with a shorter reach lens, the effect will not be as dramatic.
