Alicia is the Founder and CEO of Next Wave.  She was previously a Senior Fellow with the Kauffman Foundation (www.kauffman.org), an organization committed to grant making and operations for entrepreneurs.  She is also the Founder and past Executive Director and Board Chair of the Foundation for Sustainable Development. (www.fsdinternational.org).  She received her Ph.D. in Economics from UNC at Chapel Hill, and is a prolific author on entrepreneurship, including: 

· A Rising Tide: Financing Strategies for Women-Owned Businesses

· The Next Wave: Financing and Investing Strategies for Growth-Oriented Women Entrepreneurs

· Race and Entrepreneurial Success.

Alicia is an active investor, a mentor to various young firms, and an advisory board member for several nonprofits, including the Deming Center Venture Fund and the Good Food Institute.
