In a world that increasingly pulls us in many directions and stretches us thin, feeling fulfilled and complete is a multidimensional process of caring for body, mind, and soul. Taking time to commune with and understand our personal story, spirituality, physical well-being, and mental health are essential to living a full and whole life.
Medical doctor and mind-body expert Joan Borysenko invites you to discover flow, relationality, and well-being by learning how to integrate body, brain, and story into a coherent whole.
Join Dr. Borysenko, for an experiential workshop that blends spirituality, neuroscience, and mindfulness training with the power of personal narrative. Drawing upon evidence-based mind-body training and our capacity to create meaning through story, Dr. Borysenko helps us better identify the stories we tell ourselves and how those stories interact with our brain and body to either shut us down or open us up.
Discover how your personal story affects your biology. Engage with neurobiology and neuroplasticity to analyze your narrative for healing and transformation. Examine identity, coping mechanisms, and spirituality to repair your personal story.
Whether you are seeking expansion and exploration for yourself, or insights for healing others, Dr. Borysenko provides tools for a journey to wholeness.
Joan Borysenko, PhD is a world-renowned expert in the mind-body connection. A licensed psychologist and a Harvard-trained cell biologist, Dr. Borysenko synthesizes cutting edge science with deep humanity. Dr. Borysenko work has been foundational in an international health-care revolution that recognizes the role of meaning, and the spiritual dimensions of life, as an integral part of health and healing. Author of 16 books including her groundbreaking work, the New York Times best seller, “Minding the Body, Mending the Mind,” and numerous audio and video programs for meditation and stress management, Joan’s work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, on Public Television, and on many websites. Dr. Borysenko’s warmth and credibility, plus her lively sense of humor make her one the most popular and sought-after speakers in the fields of health, healing, and spirituality.
After graduating magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr College in 1967, Dr. Borysenko earned her doctorate in Medical Sciences from Harvard Medical School and completed her post-doctoral training in cancer cell biology. But after the death of her father from cancer, she became more interested in the person with the illness than in the disease itself, completing two more postdoctoral fellowships in the new fields of behavioral medicine and psychoneuroimmunology.
Dr. Borysenko’s latest project, SyNAPSE, integrates Science, Nutrition, Awareness training, Positive Psychology, Spirituality and Epigenetics into a multi-dimensional, personalized approach to self-directed wellness. President of Mind-Body Health Sciences, LLC, Dr. Borysenko lives in the mountains of New Mexico with her husband, Gordon Dveirin and their two dogs, Mitzi and Milo.
