Familiar Strangers by Keith Bowers

Humor embraces horror through a troupe of surreal, disjointed characters, brightly colored and starkly rendered in oil paint and junk sculpture by local artist Keith Bowers.

A lifelong artist, career journalist, occasional stage performer and perpetual fashion experiment, Keith Bowers works mostly in oil painting and junk sculpture. He came to embrace the surreal and absurd while growing up as a military brat. Involuntarily cast into this nomadic subculture whose members attempt to lead interesting, orderly lives while surrounded by advanced weaponry and symbols of death and glory, he inhabited a nexus of humor, horror and reflection.

The Art in the Valley Gallery downtown Corvallis is hosting Keith Bowers as the "artist of the month" in October. Join him over a glass of wine during Corvallis Art Walk on October 18th starting at 4pm.
