Falling for Pawling is the culminating performance of an exciting collaboration between the Pawling Central School District and the Sherman Chamber Ensemble based on themes and works developed by students in the goverment and AP English classes of 2015.
The original score was composed and orchestrated by the evening's conductor Eliot Bailen, Artistic Director of the Sherman Chamber Ensemble.
The concert features the Pawling High School Band and Chorus, The Pawling Middle School Seventh and Eighth Grade Chorus, and selected instrumental players from Pawling Middle School performing alongside ten professional musicians at the High School auditorium.
The program will include thematic compostions ranging from the Hudson River School painters to Quaker Hill’s Mizzentop Hotel to Murrow Park, a mother’s contributions and experiences in small town government, old local photographs, oft-heard, yet unexplored, local legends, Stewart Airforce Base, haunted houses in the area and George Washington’s Headquarters.
The end products range from an original series of Petrarchan sonnets to the diary of a teenage waiter at the turn of the twentieth century.
The concert is free and open to the public. However, due to limited seating tickets must be reserved ahead. There is a limit of three tickets per reservation.
