About the play

FACE WORK is a tragic comic play about world-renowned API research scientist Solange Januario as she embarks on a series of experiments exploring the sometimes surreal lengths that people go to achieve their ideal of Beauty.  Directed by Michelle Aguillon.

About the playwright

HORTENSE GERARDO is a writer and anthropologist whose works have been performed nationally and internationally, including: LaMama Experimental Theatre, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the International Performance Art Festival in Monza, Italy, the Venice Biennale, the Nuit Blanche Festival in Toronto and The Fence International Playwright Network. 

Dr. Gerardo is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Performing Arts at Lasell College and serves as the Artist in Residence at the Metropolitan Area Planning Council of BostonShe is a member of The Dramatists’ Guild of America, The International Center for Women Playwrights, the American Anthropological Association, a co-founder of the Asian American Playwright Collective and Director of the non-profit organization, in vivo Productions. The staged reading is part of AAPC's New Works Series and was made possible by the generous support of The Boston Foundation.

There will be a post reading reception with Filipino hors d'oeuvres. Location TBA at the theater.
