"What the Eyes Don't See" Book Talk

Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha will give a book talk and signing for "What the Eyes Don't See," about the Flint water crisis.

Join The Detroit Writing Room for an eye-opening book talk by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha on Nov. 13 from 6:30-8 p.m.

"What the Eyes Don't See" is a firsthand, fast-paced account of the Flint water crisis through the eyes of Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the pediatrician who discovered elevated lead levels in Flint children and ultimately alerted government officials and the public about the Flint water crisis.

At the book talk, you'll hear her story of how she stood up to government officials who dismissed the crisis and how she and a small team of crusaders finally got the government to pay attention and take action.

Dr. Mona is now the founder and director of the Michigan State University and Hurley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative, a model public health program created to mitigate the impact of the crisis.

Each $10 ticket to the book talk will go to the Flint Kids Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. The Flint Kids Fund benefits Flint children who are facing ongoing and longterm health and development challenges. Donations support efforts to mitigate the toxic stress on children and families created by the crisis.

"What the Eyes Don't See" will be available to purchase at the event for $28. A portion of book sales also supports the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.
