This course will teach participants not only the framework for experimental electronic music, but how to apply and record their own.

This workshop, led by experimental musician Bob Bellerue, extends from various approaches to making a “musical signal chain” from idea to the audience. Over the course of four weeks, participants will learn about the histories, methods, aesthetics, and conceptual frameworks for noise, drone, ambient, sound art, improvisation, and experimental electronic music. To apply these frameworks, we will build contact microphones, small electronic devices, and custom instruments using resonant objects. Additionally, we will delve into field recordings and tape delay as we make and share short recordings.

Price: $300

Date: The workshop is a four-week course meeting on February 22, February 29, March 14, and March 28. All sessions last from 1-5PM.

Audience: Open to all.

Materials: Materials included in price of the class.

Bob Bellerue is an audio engineer and experimental musician active since 1987.
