What is Essentrics?

History & Philosophy: Former Candian Royal ballerina Miranda Esmond-White, her researcher daughter Sahra, and the Canadian National Sports Federation have created a unique flexibility program geared towards long lean muscles, excellent posture, and relieving pain. The Essentrics program appeals to baby-boomers, competitive athletes, and young adults alike. The techniques of Pulling Up and Turning Out are directly derived from ballet. Using arms overhead is unique to Essentrics. Essentrics techniques protect the hips, relieve back and knee pain, and improve circulation and alignment.

Who may benefit? Teens 16yrs + and adults of all ages interested in working on posture, balance, and lengthening muscles through the torso, hips, and pelvis through the breath and dance-meets-yoga-meets-tai-chi like movement. 

What can I expect? Classes are done primarily in standing and focus on specific range of motion, visualization, and balancing movements for a total body workout. Movements can be modified up or down and are gentle yet invigorating! Classes combine elements of PNF cross body patterns (P.T. jargon for spiral diagonal line work key according to the research for unwinding fascial restrictions), yoga, ballet, and tai chi. Classes include a mat based strength and dynamic stretching component at the end.
