Within 48 business hours from completing this registration, you will receive an email from hr.elearning@baltimorecity.gov containing your Virtual Learning Center login information.

  • Online access will be given during a seven day period of your choice.
  • NOTE: Access begins on the date you select no matter which day of that week you begin the course.
  • Courses can be accessed from a computer, tablet, or phone (You will need to have sound on your device)

Once registration is complete, your agency will be charged for the course. Requests for date changes, cancellations, and/or failure to begin or complete the course do not warrant exemption from the full charges.

Essentials of Customer Service

This course is for City of Baltimore employees only. 

Customer service is the first, and perhaps only, contact for customers in most industries. It may be the only true window into the organization’s products and services, and it can greatly impact customer satisfaction and loyalty. Customer service fundamentals can help provide the foundational skills required to provide exceptional service. In this learning path, you'll learn how to build rapport with customers. You'll explore strategies for providing excellent on-site, telephone, and internal customer service. You'll also learn about conflict resolution tactics and guidelines for developing a customer service strategy for your organization.

Learning Objectives:

  • Illustrate rapport building in customer Service
  • Develop onsite customer service skills 
  • Uiltize effective tools during telephone customer service calls 
  • Provide effective internal customer service
  • Properly address confrontation in customer service
  • Design a customer service strategy
