Join me this summer for a three-part experience about learning how to pray using Ann Lamott's book, Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers, as a guide. During these once-a-month gatherings we'll eat dinner together, sift through Lamott's book, share personal stories, and learn how to pray.

In June we'll ease into prayer by recalling all the good in our lives. Through this review we'll approach a sense of heightened gratitude and joy: "God, thanks."

In July we'll scratch below the surface of our lives and reveal areas where we're struggling. Through the honest conversation that we'll be having with ourselves - and others - we'll muster the words: "God, help." 

Lastly, in August we'll step back from the narrow focus of our fast-paced lives and allow ourselves to steep in the grandeur of stillness, silence and beauty. Through this resting of our mind, body and spirit we'll exhale: "God, wow."

Three simple prayers: Help. Thanks. Wow.

Do I have to read the book?

No. However, it's a short and easy read (102 pgs). Reading the 30ish pages per chapter over the course of a month may help you to have a better overall experience. You can purchase it on Amazon for $12.
