What better way to celebrate Steve Reich's 80th birthday than with a Cal Performances co-commission and US premiere? Reich, "the most original music thinker of our time" (The New Yorker), premieres his new Runner, performed by Ensemble Signal, which won rave reviews and a Diapason d'Or for its recording of the composer's Music for 18 Musicians.
