In support of City of Hope’s recent CIRM grant to study sickle cell anemia, CPAD will host its 2nd Annual Sickle Cell Disease forum to highlight the disease. To be discussed are: Emerging issues in patient and patient advocacy; Emerging scientific and medical advances and; Partnership Opportunities with local organizations serving the sickle cell patient catchment. As a bridge between City of Hope and the African-American/Black community of Los Angeles County, it is CPAD’s mission to assist City of Hope in rolling out an effective sickle cell program that provides the best patient recruitment and experience!
This event is open to all interested, including patients, advocates, community members, and healthcare professionals.

The institution's leading experts on sickle cell, transplantation, and genome editing will present the latest advances in research and medicine. Sickle cell experts from Children's Hospital LA (Dr. Thomas Coates) will share the exciting things happening at their respective institutions, as well as updates regarding the Clinic/Out-patient Infusion Center (Dr. Charles Otieno).
The event's moderator will be City of Hope's Founding Director of Health Equities, and Founder of African Ancestry, Dr. Rick Kittles. Come hear Bethel Adeh recount her experience as a patient living with Sickle Cell Disease.
Stick around afterward to continue the conversation for a networking hour with refreshments from 5:30PM - 7:30PM.
