E-Z Sunset Walk at Peekskills Riverfront Green Park & Greenway!

Lets' enjoy the longer days of summer and  the scenic views of our Hudson river at Peekskills newly expanded Greenway path! Our art enthusiasts will also appreciate the many sculptures throughout the park! I hear there is a great ice cream shop across the tracks for those who care to indulge after the walk if they are open and there is always Taorminas for those wanting a bigger meal. 

This will be about about a 1 1/2 - 2 hour walk covering about 3-4  miles at a steady moderate pace on paved paths, boardwalks, piers and possibly some crushed gravel and grass, mostly level with some gentle inclines on the boardwalk.  There is a stairway that can be avoided. We will take short breaks for photos and to take in the views. If there is time we can check out a local outdoor mural. 

Sneakers, supportive walking shoes or hiking shoes are suggested. Water is a must, dressing in layers and sun protection is recommended along with bugspray. Lots of photo opts so bring those cameras, smartphones and our birders may want to bring along the binoculars.

MEET IN PARKING LOT TO THE RIGHT OVER THE TRACKS AT RIVERFRONT GREEEN PARK, near playground and rest area.  ADDITIONAL PARKING AVAILABLE  AT TRAIN STATION AT METERS AND FURTHER DOWN BY BOAT DOCK by turning left over the tracks. Carpooling is suggested. AS IT IS COMMUTER TIME LEAVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME. NOT FOR SINGLES ONLY.

Continue straight onto W 97th St. Turn left onto West End Ave. Turn right at the 1st cross street onto W 96th St. Continue on NY-9A N. Take Saw Mill River Parkway N to NY-100 N/NY-9A N in Mount Pleasant. Turn RIGHT after you cross over tracks and find parking spot (additional parking at train station by meters and further down by boat dock.

From Hartford, CT:

Get on I-84 in West Hartford from Capitol Ave, Boulevard and S Main St. Head south on Hungerford St toward Capitol Ave. Turn right at the 1st cross street onto Capitol Ave. Slight right onto Boulevard. Turn left onto S Main St. 

Turn right onto the I-84 W ramp to Waterbury. Continue on I-84 to Bedford. Take exit 6 from I-684 S. Merge onto I-84. Continue onto US-202 W/US-6 W/US-7 S.Continue onto I-84. Entering New YorkTake exit 20 for I-684 toward NY-22/White Plains/Pawling. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Interstate 684/White Plains/New York City and merge onto I-684 S. Take exit 6 for NY-35 toward Cross River/KatonahFollow NY-35 W and Bear Mountain State Pkwy to Hudson Ave/Riverfront Green Park in Peekskill.

Turn right onto NY-35 W/Cross River RdContinue to follow NY-35 W. Turn right onto NY-35 W/US-202 W/Crompond Rd. Slight right onto Bear Mountain State Pkwy. 

Continue onto US-202 E/US-6 E/U.S. 9 S/Rte 9 S. Keep left to continue on Rte 9 S. Take the exit toward Hudson Ave. Turn right onto Hudson Ave

Turn RIGHT after you cross over tracks to parking lot
