Transportation Requirements: All participants will be required to coordinate their personal transportation both to and from the conference.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

What is Step Up’s “I Dream To…” Conference?

• Step Up’s “I Dream To…” Mentoring Conference is a day-long session uniting women and girls for a day of self-discovery and goal setting. This year, thanks to our friends at Verizon and Barbie, Step Up has curated a special conference program aimed at closing the dream gap.

• Starting at age 5, many girls begin to develop limiting self-beliefs. They stop believing their gender can do or be anything. This is called the Dream Gap, and our friends at Barbie are working to close it. Step Up is proud to be a beneficiary of Barbie’s Dream Gap Project, an ongoing global initiative that aims to give girls the resources and support they need to continue to believe that they can be anything.

• During this one-day conference, mentors, Step Up teens, and girls ages 7 to 10 will have the opportunity to dream about their own futures. This multigenerational group will identify and celebrate their attributes and co-create action plans to make their dreams a reality. Step Up teens will have the opportunity to both connect with mentors and to BE mentors themselves through guided workshops and interactive activities! Conference Arrivals + Departures

• Girls between the ages of 7-10 should plan to arrive at the conference between 11:45am-12:00pm. Please allow time to escort the conference attendee to conference registration where they will be greeted by Step Up volunteers and staff. They will then be escorted by the Step Up team to the mentoring program, orientation, and lunch! Please plan to pick up your conference attendee at the conclusion of the program around 3:00pm. • Upon registration, participants will receive an electronic receipt confirming their registration. The week of the event, guardians and participants will receive an email outlining the full conference agenda, on-site event contacts, arrival and departure times, and general conference information.

Parent/Guardian FAQs

• Can I attend the conference with the individual age 7-10 I have registered?

Dependent on venue capacity, parents and/or guardians may have the opportunity to remain on-site with their participant at the conference. This will be confirmed 1-2 weeks out from the event.

• If you are a member of Step Up and have signed up to be a mentor for the length of the full program (9:00am-3:00pm), you will be able to attend as a mentor for the full conference. However, please ensure the participant ages 7-10 arrives at their designated times.
