Are you ready for a night of fun, gourmet food, and contribution to diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency in the veterinary profession? If so, then you'll want to get your ticket to this very special BLACK-TIE event! It gives us great pleasure to announce the 2020 Dr. Tracy Hanner Endowed Scholarship Fundraising Gala! Our purpose for the gala is to raise money to contribute to the Dr. Tracy Hanner Endowment Scholarship Fund and begin to award scholarships to under-represented minority veterinary students at NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine who demonstrate a passion for the profession and diversity. ***100% of net ticket proceeds will go towards the scholarship endowment fund*** The 2020 Dr. Tracy Hanner Fundraising Gala, will be a grand event that brings together forward-thinking supporters of diversity and inclusion in veterinary medicine. The event will also highlight our association’s purpose and current mission to support underrepresented minority students via mentorship and scholarship. About Dr. Tracy Hanner: Dr. Tracy Hanner was the first African-American graduate from the North Carolina State College ofVeterinary Medicine in 1986. He dedicated his life to the animal science and pre-veterinary educationof underrepresented minority students and promoted animal health and welfare through his position atNorth Carolina A&T State University. Being a founding member of NCAMV, Dr. Hanner has andcontinues to support diversity amongst the profession by giving his time and being a leader for thestudents who are the future of veterinary medicine. As a testament to his dedication to diversity withinthe veterinary profession, Dr. Hanner was named the 2009 Iverson Bell award recipient by theAssociation of American Veterinary Medical Colleges. He is currently serving as the Interim Chairman of NC A&T's Department of Animal Sciences, a massive and prestigious undertaking. About the NC Association of Minority Veterinarians The North Carolina Association of Minority Veterinarians (NCAMV) is a 501-3c non-profit, state organization dedicatedto increasing the ethnic and racial diversity amongst the profession while supporting its members andpromoting student success. Founded by a group of North Carolina Veterinarians fromunderrepresented populations, our mission is to provide opportunities for individuals from diversebackgrounds to obtain experience in the veterinary medical profession. With this mission, we provideour members and the veterinary community with continuing education credits focusing on leadership,wellbeing, and business. Most importantly, we put action behind our vision of a more diverse andinclusive veterinary profession of the future by implementing student mentorship opportunities and byestablishing endowment scholarship funds. Veterinary and pre-veterinary students serve as an integralpart of the continuous advancement of the veterinary profession and ensuring that the studentpopulation is diverse and the profession inclusive is our ethical duty and societal obligation as aprofession. Since its inception, NCAMV has demonstrated a strong passion for the support for the future ofveterinary medicine. Our goal is to provide opportunities for underrepresented minorities seekingveterinary experiences needed to qualify for admission into veterinary college. We also serve as a resource for animal owners seeking a veterinarian from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, gender,sexual oriented, etc., backgrounds. We are well-known for putting our money where our hearts are. With this in mind, we have established three endowed scholarships: 1. The Dr. Alfreda Webb Endowed Scholarship at North Carolina State College ofVeterinary Medicine - $50,000 2. The Dr. Alfreda Webb Endowed Scholarship at the Tuskegee College of VeterinaryMedicine - $25,000 3. The Dr. Tracy Hanner Endowed Scholarship at North Carolina State College ofVeterinary Medicine - $25,000 We have completed the endowment for the Dr. Alfreda Webb Scholarship at both North CarolinaState and Tuskegee University, and we are currently in the process of raising funds for the Dr. TracyHanner endowment, which is why we are asking for your attendance and support! ***The entertainment will be provided by Sound Factor Entertainment!
