We are seeking volunteers & board members to donate their time, skills & experience toward helping The Dog Park Project achieve its goals.

Dear Friends of The Dog Park,

Thank you for your generous and ongoing support of the Frank S. Ortiz Dog Park. We greatly appreciate every Dog Park patron and their furry friends who enjoy visiting The Dog Park and making it the best experience ever!

At The Dog Park Project, our mission is to provide, in conjunction with the City of Santa Fe Parks Division, enhancements to the Frank S.Ortiz Dog Park that will aid in the enjoyment of dogs and their people.

We have exciting updates to share with you, and we also need your help! During the winter of 2019, we were busy making enhancements, and there are more improvements coming in 2020.

Winter 2019 Accomplishments:

Memorial Benches: Three memorial benches have been graciously donated by patrons and installed, and three more benches are scheduled to be installed in the Springtime.

Matching Grant: A $5000 Matching Gift Challenge in Memory of Tait has been met—thank you to Glenn Pearsall and all those donors who helped to make this a success.

Spring 2020 Projects:

Buy Art for Dogs: Support The Dog Park Project by buying a beautiful sculpture created by John Alsip from REcycled and REpurposed objects. John generously donated a large body of his work, and we’ve already sold a number of his sculptures. Check them out and get yours today: TheDogParkProject.org/Art.html

Dog Water Fountains: Thanks to Bill Thornton’s donations, the city of Santa Fe will be installing 3 year-round dog watering stations during the first quarter of 2020.

A Small Dog Park Is Coming Soon: We’re very excited about an altruistic donation from a patron to create a fenced-in small dog park area near the small parking lot. A matching grant program will be established to help fund this project--more details to come!

Spring Clean-up Day: The Dog Park Clean-up Day is scheduled for April 25th from 9 am to Noon. Please mark your calendars—we look forward to seeing you!

As we begin an exciting new year, we are looking for both volunteers and board members to donate their time, skills and experience toward helping us to achieve the goals we have set out for The Dog Park. Some of these exciting endeavors include building the shade structure that was designed by Harry Perez-Daple, adding enhanced features to the small dog park area, and installing speed bumps and speed bump signs.

Based on feedback from Santa Fe Parks Division, there are unfortunately negative impacts which could result from the installation of a permanent public bathroom. Therefore, there will be two porta potties installed on a seasonal basis in the small parking lot.

If you’re interested in helping make The Dog Park the true jewel of Santa Fe, please join us at our informational meeting on Tuesday, February 25. We welcome your talent, ideas and enthusiasm! We’re seeking volunteers and board members who can help in the following areas:
