Celebrate the spirit of Mardi Gras when Marshall’s Dixieland Jazz Band presents “Dixieland Jazz at Stangl Stage” on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at 50 Stangl Road, Flemington. Masks and beads are welcome!

The concert will benefit Friends of Historic Flemington, a grassroots organization of concerned citizens focused on saving the town’s cultural heritage through adaptive reuse of the its historic buildings.

Founded in 1982, Marshall's Dixieland Band is one of New Jersey’s longest running bands, playing famous Dixie standards on authentic instruments. The band rarely relies on music, so you never know how a tune might turn out. Regular favorites include Darktown Strutters Ball, I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Jada, Indiana, Just a Closer Walk with Thee and the Saints.

The band is comprised of musicians from the central New Jersey area, including regulars Rod B. Anderson of Princeton on clarinet; Warren Buckleitner of Flemington on cornet; Henry Dale of Princeton on banjo; George Dougherty of Lawrenceville on trombone; Charley Huck of Somerville on piano; Jerry Gerard of Monroe Twp. on drums; and Tom Spain of Skillman on the tuba.

Tickets are $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door.  Purchase at Stangl Factory Farmers Market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, on Eventbite or by contacting Joanne Braun at (908) 268-6638. Credit/debit cards accepted.
