Developing Successful Women in Tech - Happy Hour

Happy hour for women to gather and listen to speakers share their journey in the tech world, including sharing struggles and advice.

This event will be focused around both listening to women share their journey at tech companies in this area as well as how we can encourage more women to get into this field. We will hear different perspectives from speakers of varying levels from a Software Developer to a VP of People & Culture. The event will be a happy hour hosted at Red Ventures office in downtown Detroit from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on August 22nd and we will provide both drinks and snacks for attendees. We want the sessions with each speaker to be conversational and we encourage questions or thoughts on these topics. Look below for more information on the speakers!

6:00pm - 6:20pm - attendees arrive, networking, grab drinks, etc.

6:20pm - 6:50pm - First speaker, Q& A and open discussion

6:50pm - 6:55pm - Intermission, break for refills and snacks.

6:55 pm - 7:25pm - Second speaker, Q& A and open discussion

7:25pm - 7:30pm - Intermission

7:30pm - 8:00pm - Final speaker, Q& A and open discussion

After the sessions are complete, we will continue to be around for networking, etc. for an additional half hour

Speakers:

Margi Fox -

Margi is the Vice President of People & Culture at Credibly. She brings over 20 years of experience with global, world-class organizations across a range of industries. She has a passion for developing and implementing strategies that enable people to achieve their potential. Margi's experience developing corporate cultures combined with her passion for getting more women in STEM will make her a great speaker for this event!

Elin Petersen -

Elin is a Senior Success Specialist at CrowdRise by GoFundMe and an advocate for women as leaders and change-makers. Following a traumatic attack in 2017, Elin reclaimed her life and focused on blooming by empowering and advocating for the women around her. She decided to take a deeper dive by completing a Women in Leadership Certificate from Cornell University in 2019. Her core values are authenticity, perseverance, and zest, and she’s always down for some oysters.

Chandler Keyes -

Chandler is a full stack Software Developer at Interaction Gaming and also creates her own content uploading coding tutorials on YouTube. She is incredibly passionate about software development as well as sharing her knowledge with the community, she even volunteered at Grand Circus as a Teacher’s Assistant for their weekly Intro to Coding workshops.
