NEW Seminar Presented by Kevin M. Steele
Outstanding Educator and International Presenter
Specifically Designed for Computer Science Teachers and Technology Integration Specialists serving grades 6-12
What you Will Learn
Coding is the “New Literacy.” Our students are growing up in a quickly changing digital world and coding is a language they’ll need to know. Coding promotes problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, reasoning, spatial awareness, sequencing, and so much more. It is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education at its best!
The introduction and teaching of coding has been gaining interest and generating buzz the last two years. This seminar is designed to put you in the coding seat and work the projects that you can implement the very next day. As a tech specialist, myself, it is always my aim to support my colleagues. Practical strategies for Computer Science teachers and tech specialists in these roles will be infused to assist colleagues as they attempt coding for the first time.
I have designed this seminar specifically to teach Computer Science teachers and Technology Integration specialists how to teach coding in grades 6-12. Whether you are tech timid or tech savvy, you will find an abundance of resources. I will help you sort through the wealth of resources and highlight for you the best and most effective ones to teach coding to students in grades 6-12. We will look at ways to design lessons and projects to teach and infuse coding into everyday curricula. We will discuss the research and real-world application and dive deeply into extension lessons for coding. Bring your devices! We will be working through many of the projects and you will leave with not only the inspiration, but complete projects and lessons that you can use with students immediately. There is not just one way to teach coding. I will help you get started and give you the tools and resources you need to move your students forward.
I look forward to meeting you at the seminar. The day promises to be a day filled with practical activities, ideas, tips and resources that will empower you to infuse coding and reveal the magic behind the screens! Bring your laptop or device…we are going to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty with code!
Sincerely,
Kevin M. Steele, Ed.S.
P.S. I know how valuable your teaching time is to you, so I have planned an active day, packed with lessons, and resources that if you choose, can be immediately implemented with your own grade 6-12 students.
