This summer, join The Detroit Writing Room for a weekend retreat to connect with fellow writers, write in a creative space and learn from published authors.
The Detroit Writing Room is offering a Summer Writing Retreat Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18. If you need an escape to unblock writer's block and get your creative juices flowing, this experience is for you.
The two-day retreat includes time to network with aspiring and veteran authors, writing and publishing workshops, and free writing time. Meals and a Friday happy hour are included in the ticket price. All levels of experience are welcome. Must be 21+.
Come with your laptop and/or writing materials!
1 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Free Write
All retreat participants are welcome to work and write in The Detroit Writing Room. This is a time to write in an inspiring space free of distractions, with plenty of coffee of course! Writers may come and go at any time. Participation is optional.
5:30 - 7 p.m. - Writer's Happy Hour
Start the weekend with a glass of wine or Champagne, and meet fellow writers on the retreat. We want to hear what you're working on or any of your published works we should check out!
10 - 10:15 a.m. - Check in, coffee and bagels

10:30 - 11 a.m. - Chair Yoga with Yoga Instructor Lindsay Madison
Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair or standing using a chair for support. This class is accessible for everyone, as it deepens personal body awareness and is taught as a way to achieve physical and mental fitness.
11:30 a.m. - noon - Guided Journaling with Yoga Instructor Lindsay Madison
Now that your body and mind is awakened, Lindsay will lead you in a guided journaling session to self-reflect and gain inspiration for the day.

12:30 - 1:15 p.m. - Lunch

The early bird Detroit Writing Room Summer Writing Retreat is $225 until May 1, 2020. Tickets are nonrefundable.
