Designing Purposeful Making Experiences is a two-day professional development workshop for educators who are looking to use maker-centered learning in more purposeful ways. It is intended for educators who attended our intro Designing Making Experiences workshop or those who have experience as a maker-educator.

Our challenge for this workshop is: “To what end” are students engaging in making?
More specifically, how do we design maker-centered experiences which ...
We will spend time, both as a group and individually, discussing and reflecting on what purposeful making projects should look like and feel like. At the same time, we will (re)design a making project to have more meaningful impact on both students and teachers.
Participants will be asked to share examples of their own practice as maker educators and will share the project they develop through a blog post.
Note: Our professional development opportunities are offered free to Oakland Unified and Title 1 teachers. If this applies to you, please email creativitylab@lighthousecharter.org for the promotional code.
