Desert Landscape Painting Workshop with Janis Commentz
The Campbell House is pleased to announce that desert artist and art instructor Janis Commentz will be leading a desert landscape painting workshop at the Campbell House property, January 22 – 24, 2019.
This workshop offers a unique opportunity to participants to explore their creative side, while enjoying the natural wonders and beauty of the Mojave Desert. Designed to benefit and inspire painters of any experience level, this workshop will focus on sketching, drawing from architecture and desert flora, and painting with water-based paints.
This two-night, two-day workshop is being offered for $399, and will include:
- 8 hours of art instruction with Janis Commentz
- 2 nights’ accommodations and breakfast at the Campbell House
- Picnic lunch on Wednesday, January 23
- Use of modern workshop classroom, and full access to Campbell House gardens and facilities
Janis Commentz, a 40-year desert resident, has a deep love for plein air painting in the deserts of the Southwest and has a B.A. in Art and British Literature from the University of Redlands and a M.A. in Education from the California State University San Bernardino and teaches workshops with the Desert Institute and 29 Palms Art Gallery. Her work is exhibited across southern California, and she is a participant in the annual Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours.
Participants are required to provide their art supplies, and will be responsible for their own dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The deadline to register is December 5, 2018.
*Workshop registration and hotel reservation will require deposits at time of booking. $399 workshop fee does not include hotel occupancy tax.
