Danilo Braca was born in Rome, where his father founded the first Hi-Fidelity magazine in Italy in 1971 and ran it until the mid-80s, surrounding the absorbent youth with the potent, eclectic streams of new music that were constantly pouring into the offices of the publication. He grew up alongside the gear and systems that the magazine would regularly receive as demo products, often being invited to visit manufacturer warehouses; Panasonic in Japan, McIntosh in upstate NY, Phillips in began his love affair with mixing when his father gave him 2 belt turntables, whereby he transformed his bedroom closet into a DJ booth. And then there was the culture of disco and house within Italy which was already importing world renown talent to the wooded regions on the outskirts of the city where he lived, opening up his ears to the club implementation of emergent sounds during a time that he was also coming of age to experience nightlife first hand. “In the mid-80s, when I was a teenager, I discovered there was a dance club not far from our home out in the countryside called Palladium. The place became The RedZone club. The Resident DJs were Sauro Cosimetti and Ricky L, who had phenomenal taste. It was an incredible club. They would bring in international DJ artists like François K, Frankie Knuckles, Tedd Patterson, Satoshi Tomiie…” recalled Braca in a recent elements would combine to create the kind of perfect storm that over the course of the next two decades transformed Danilo Braca into that rare breed of artist, a DJ conscious of the possibility for a better quality of sound, and one also armed with a musical direction that would transcend genre barriers and inspire a new community to form, all the while maintaining a uniqueness that goes beyond current trends and popular aesthetics.Now decades later, he is based in New York, where most recently his engineering and mastering talents have been tapped by stalwarts like Alex from Tokyo & Willie Graff, while his remix skills have landed him work for the respected 'Best Record' label. Perhaps most exciting, though, is his founding of TSoNYC (The Sound of New York City); a radio station / label / music studio in Brooklyn, NY. Danilo Braca has also become a darling favorite resource for legendary disco icon DJ Harvey, who has been heard filling his sets with Braca’s masterful edits and mindblowing productions throughout the summer season in Ibiza this year. Braca's output has culminated in a growing, quiet inner-circle success which is not often seen in the modern era of manufactured talent; this indeed is Danilo Braca's time. The label roster on his own TSoNYC imprint includes a certain caliber of artist that speaks volumes, featuring remixes from names like DJ Spinna, The Revenge, Ashley Beedle, DJ Rocca, Radius ETC, and Glenn Davis. When he's not producing, engineering, or curating the radio station, Danilo Braca can be found rocking dance floors in New York venues like House of Yes, Le Bain, and the acclaimed intimate sound-bar La Milagrosa, sanctuaries where he has carved out a place for himself as a kind of worthy successor to some of the New York's most influential DJ / producer pioneers.His single "Oh My Lord" on TSoNYC started off the label beautifully, which he followed up with a second release from SuperJaimie (a single also produced by Braca) featuring a package including a **** of remixes from the label founder past week we came across his remix for the Music for Dreams label, an incredible production where he created an amazing version of a Jacob Gurevitsch composition that might be one of the most powerful, sensual, and igniting dance grooves of the year.
