Daily Strategies to Cope with Acute/Chronic Illness

Educational Objectives: At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

•   Describe daily challenges faced by patients with acute/chronic illness
•   Identify ways in which patients and caregivers can address these daily challenges
•   Describe actions caregivers can take to care for themselves
•   Describe brief interventions for working with patients with acute/chronic illness
•   Discuss the role of ego functioning in patients with acute/chronic illness
•   Discuss the impact of pre-existing mental illness in patients with acute/chronic illness
• Identify and access available formal and informal resources
