Educational Objectives: At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe daily challenges faced by patients with acute/chronic illness
- Identify ways in which patients and caregivers can address these daily challenges
- Describe actions caregivers can take to care for themselves
- Describe brief interventions for working with patients with acute/chronic illness
- Discuss the role of ego functioning in patients with acute/chronic illness
- Discuss the impact of pre-existing mental illness in patients with acute/chronic illness
- Identify and access available formal and informal resources
